ITTC Ice Committee

The Krylov State Research Centre will host a session of the ITTC Ice Committee. Russian representatives have been actively involved in the Ice Committee deliberations ever since it was established by the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC). The Krylov Centre is presently represented in this international committee by Kirill Sazonov, D.Sc., head of Krylov’s ice laboratory. The recent contributions of Ice Committee include elaboration of ITTC recommendations for towing tests in ice model basins as well as recommendations for investigation of physical & mechanical ice properties during model experiments in ice. All these recommendations have also drawn on the experience of Krylov’s Ice Basin working side by side with other renowned member organizations.

The Ice Committee, in its new set-up for 2015 till 2018 period, is planning to address a series of tasks concerning ice model basins and full-scale ice trials. Krylov State Research Centre will be directly involved in these efforts to work out as ever valuable recommendations for the benefit of the world community.

It should be noted that the session of such a reputable international organization has been held in the Krylov Centre for the first time.
