The 7th International Maritime Defence Show hosted by the Lenexpo Exhibition site from 1 to 5 June has wrapped up its work. Obviously, it would take some time for the IMDS organizers and participants to shape up their final opinions and judgments of this event. Meanwhile we can safely confirm that the Krylov State Research Centre has been successfully represented at this internationally recognized naval show with lots of interested guests and fellow participants dropping by the Krylov’s booth keen to learn more about its exhibits at IMDS-2015. The most highlighted showcases, as could well be expected, were the conceptual designs of advanced aircraft carrier Shtorm (storm), Pr.2300E, and multi-role destroyer Shkval (squall) whose models became the Krylov’s calling cards at IMDS-2015. The high interest has been largely attracted due to a range of innovative design solutions and advanced info about these projects seeped into the Russian and foreign media as well as their unveiling in June at another international forum Army-2015.
For this reason within the first two days the Krylov’s booth was visited by a host of dignitaries and VVIPs including Vladimir Kozhin, Presidential Advisor on MTC, Admiral Chirkov, Russian Naval Commander-in-Chief, Alexander Fomin, Director of Federal Service for MTC, Andrei Dutov, Deputy Minister of Industry & Trade, Maxim Kochetkov, Director of Shipbuilding Industry and Marine Facilities Department, Dmitriy Shugaev Deputy CEO of Rostec Corporation, Anatoly Isaykin, Director General of JSC Rosoboronexport, Vice Admiral Victor Barsuk, Deputy Naval Commander-in-Chief, Andrei Vernigora and Pavel Pechkovsky, top executives of State Defence Order Department. Detailed explanations regarding the exhibited projects were given by Director General Vladimir Nikitin himself and top experts of the Krylov State Research Centre — Vladimir Pepeliaev, Valentin Belonenko, Valery Polovinkin and other knowledgeable staff of the Centre who answered various questions of the high visitors.Apart from the high-placed officials and top managers of Russian industrial and research companies the Krylov exposition also attracted representatives of some naval foreign delegations, colleagues from global R&D centers and shipbuilding industries.
Along with naval projects the guests were keen to learn more about R&Ds of TSNII SET (Krylov’s electric engineering affiliate) in ship electric propulsion systems and hydrogen power, as well as a ship berthing complex with helipad designed by Baltsudopoekt (Krylov’s design bureau).
Exchanges of opinions and lively discussions with visiting guests at the Krylov’s booth and on the sidelines of the Show have demonstrated sincere professional interest to the projects presented by Krylov Centre at IMDS-2015 evidencing that the research and engineering capacity and high-level competence enables the Krylov State Research Centre to keep abreast with the forward-looking developments in the Russian naval and merchant shipbuilding.
