The Memorial Complex
«Thank you for our happy childhood»
The Memorial Complex «Thank you for our happy childhood» dedicated to Krylov’s employees who died during WW II was inaugurated on 5th May at Krylov Centre. It is the first step of the Krylov’s Victory Park Project.
Roman A. Matantsev, an engineer of the Krylov Centre, who won the competition for the best monument design organized in 2013, has said that many war monuments focus on the death leaving by the wayside the core issue of Life, i.e. the life of coming generations for whom this feat was performed and who know about the war from the word of mouth and history books. For this reason the central character of the monument is a child — a boy dressed up as a sailor playing with toy ships. Behind the boy there is a part of damaged wall bearing the names of Krylov’s employees who lost their lives during the Great Patriotic War.
