Extended Session on modernization of shipbuilding industry at Krylov Centre

The Krylov State Research Centre hosted the first extended session held to review conceptual projects for future development of the United Shipbuilding Corporation industrial facilities up to the year 2030. The session chaired by Aleksei Rakhmanov, President of United Shipbuilding Corporation, was prepared by JSC Shipbuilding & Shiprepair Technology Center (SSTC) with involvement of key shipbuilding industries in the north-western region. Valery Kireev, Deputy Director General of SSTC, reported the results of activities undertaken in this field, analyzed the available industrial facilities of 9 companies in the region from the standpoint of future order books up to the year 2030. The session reviewed the status and capabilities of companies including Severnaya Verf, Admiralty Shipyards, Baltiisky Zavod — Shipbuilding, Sredne — Nevskiy Shipyard, Vyborg Shipyard, Proletarsky Zvod, Kronshtad Maritime Shipyard, Yantar Shipyard, 33 Shiprepair Yard and considered measures for modernization and upgrade of their production facilities to cater for the prospective order books. The next session on development of shipbuilding and shiprepair industries of Severodvinsk is tentatively scheduled for the late May 2015.

Attendees of the session had a chance to briefly familiarize themselves with the available capabilities of the industry’s leading research organization — Krylov State Research Centre. They noted a high level of Krylov’s R&Ds providing good basis for development of innovative products.
