From September 5 to February 1 undergraduate students of St. Petersburg Marine Technical University (SMTU) majoring in Structural mechanics field of Applied Mechanics specialty, has been practicing at KSRC Structural Strength Division (at the laboratory of hull strength and structures for displacement ships, cargo carrier vessels and offshore platforms). This apprenticeship includes theoretical classes and practical work at KSRC test facilities dealing with both static and fatigue testing.
These apprenticeship programs are common practice of KSRC since 2014 when Krylov Centre signed a contract with SMTU to establish the first industrial chair for ship strength and structures (part of Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering Department of SMTU) at KSRC premises.
The industrial chair offers a whole variety of different activities, including lectures, seminars, apprenticeships and practical training at KSRC. Its main purpose is to give the students an idea about Krylov Centre, its working conditions and employment prospects.
