To the memory of Valery Polyakov, Advisor of Director General

Valery N. Polyakov, Advisor of KSRC Director General, passed away on December 3, 2022 at the age of 74.
He was born on January 2, 1948 in the city of Cheboksary. He was the graduate of Leningrad Shipbuilding University, and passed his entire professional career at Krylov Centre working in the field of naval architecture.
Joining KSRC in 1971 as an engineer, he was working on structural improvement of strategic ballistic-missile submarines: in particular, to make them capable of surfacing in continuous ice, to which effect he participated in experimental voyages in the Arctic. His profound theoretical knowledge and practical experience were further demonstrated in his Cand.Sc. Theses on ice engineering successfully defended in 1979.
Dr. Polyakov has always been broad-minded and diligent professional, and enjoyed genuine respect and authority in both research and engineering communities.
For over two decades Dr. Polyakov was the head of one of KSRC Divisions working on development programs for Russian naval and commercial shipbuilding, with considerable contribution to national security of our country.
Dr. Polyakov authored 12 inventions and 200 research articles and books. His achievements in both research activities and practical work were recognized with numerous medals and other awards.
Krylov Centre is mourning the loss of the Outstanding Researcher, Brilliant Professional and the Man who cared about the Common Cause.
