During St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2015 the innovation model of new generation research vessel for operation in Arctic was presented by Krylov State Research Centre at the stand of St. Petersburg Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovations. The conceptual design of the vessel is developed by CDB Baltsudoproekt (integral part of the Krylov Centre).

New vessel is intended for personnel transfer to and from research stations, it is planned to be used for cargo delivery (including provisions) to the Arctic stations, garbage and waste disposal from Arctic region and for research activities in the ocean.

The construction of this vessel may open the possibilities for significant improvement in terms of station supply, research efficiency and it will also contribute in protection of national interests in Arctic.

Along with the model of new-generation research vessel KSRC displayed the following models on its stand: Project 21900M diesel-electric icebreaker — a model for three icebreakers («Vladivostok», «Murmansk», «Novorossiisk») under construction at the moment; drill ship, Project 22740 shallow-draft icebreaker- the most powerful among existing vessels (propeller power 6.4 MW); drilling platform Polyarnaya Zvezda (Polar Star), and the models of vessels being successfully operated at present time in northern latitudes (icebreaker «Moskva» and new generation research vessel «Academic Treshnikov»).

The keen interest in the exposition was expressed not only by the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgiy Poltavchenko and the representatives of business elite but also by distinguished scientists and Arctic explorers such as Artur Chilingarov.
