Standartization issues as applied to shipbuilding industry were discussed at Krylov state research centre

«Standardization in shipbuilding industry. The present objectives of regulatory technical support for the industry» Conference held at Krylov State Research Centre was focused on optimization of cooperation between the players of shipbuilding industry and on competitiveness improvement for shipbuilding production; the Conference was organized by TSNII «Lot» (incorporated in the Krylov State Research Centre) — the key institute for standardization and unification, certification of products in the field of shipbuilding.

The event was attended by KSRC Director General Vladimir Nikitin, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology Alexander Zazhigalkin, President of United Shipbuilding Corporation Aleksei Rakhmanov and over 60 delegates — representatives of leading shipbuilding companies, shipyards, design bureaux, shiprepair yards and other industrial companies.

The Conference covered the wide range of methodological, organizational and managerial aspects of standardization in shipbuilding industry. The participants have discussed the current state of shipbuilding production cataloging and the perspectives of its further development, the problems of technical standards base in design and development of complex civil projects as well as the prospects of modern standard application in the context of quality management of shipbuilding key data.

The Conference resulted in agreement as for the general lines of scientific and practice-oriented strategies in terms of main tendencies for advanced standardization program in shipbuilding; the overall objectives of standardization development and improvement in Russia were approved and the number of recommendation as for the ways to accomplish stated objectives were given. Moreover, the participants have reached a common ground regarding the need to execute similar events annually.
