Vladimir S. Nikitin
Director General of the Krylov State Research Centre, Laureate of the State Prize in Science and Technology (2004), Laureate of the Russian Federation Government Prize in Science and Technology (1999), Honored Mechanical Engineer of the Russian Federation (2004), Doctor of Technical Sciences. The main fields of his research and engineering activities include improvement of service lifetime, maintainability and production of onboard equipment and hull structures of nuclear submarines based on application of probabilistic & statistic analysis; mathematical modeling for quantitative assessment of reliability, survivability and safety; environmental friendliness at various stages of nuclear submarine construction; repair and complete industrial decommissioning of nuclear submarines. v. S. Nikitin is the author of well-known contributions in the field of risk management at decommissioning of complex high power units. He has a wealth of experience in both research and practical management activities: in 1998–2007 v. S. Aleksandrov has made significant contribution to the theoretical basis of FE analysis in application to non-linear buckling of stiffened shells and grillage structures. The results of these theoretical studies have been implemented in regulatory technical documentation of shipbuilding industry. In the last 5 years A.V. Aleksandrov has been involved in development of numerical methods for ice load estimation based on multi-parameter theory of deformational stability and failure of ice and ice features essential for new ice-load reducing solutions, he has also elaborated proposals for a new revision of regulatory documentation on structural strength of marine vessels, icebreakers and offshore structures operating in heavy ice conditions. Sokolov has managed and performed model tests of dynamically supported ships: air-cushion vehicles of various types, planing craft, monohull and multi-hull vessels. For his design and experimental developments v. P. Sokolov has been awarded with silver and bronze medals of the National Exhibition of Economic Achievements (VDNKh). Being the author of discovery «Vortex and wave interaction effect», he has elaborated the main principles for utilization of this effect to reduce the hydrodynamic resistance of high-speed ships. These efforts culminated in the development of the first Russian high-speed passenger catamaran (Project 23107). v. P. Sokolov has been a key researcher, designer, engineer, manager and delivery expert in this Project. v. P. Sokolov is the author of over 30 publications, including «Propulsion Performance» chapter in a handbook on small shipbuilding, he has 23 inventor’s certificates, 10 patents with 7 patents granted in the last 5 years.

Advisor to Director of KSRC’s affiliated branch TsNII SET (Ship Electric Engineering & Technology Research Institute), Principal Research Scientist, Candidate of Technical Sciences (PhD) (1969), father and chief designer of straight-tube modular steam generators for nuclear power plants (1963), co-designer of pumpless steam generating installations of Alpha & Beta types for ship nuclear power plants (1966), chief designer of fuel-cell powerplants for ships (1978–2013) including the first Russian fuel-cell power plant (Kristall-20) for the midget submarine Pirania that was successfully developed and accepted by the Navy in 1991, chief designer of the first workable one-through pressurized boiler installation (service life 40,000 hours) Napor for ships (1980–1984). More than ten dissertations have been defended as spin-offs of the above projects. Author of 80 scientific contributions and over 60 invention patents. Over the last five years v. B. Valery A. Kaliyu
Head of Hydroacoustic Measurement Sector of Krylov State Research Centre, Associate Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences College of St. Petersburg State University, Candidate of Technical Sciences (PhD), Associate Professor. v. A. Kaliyu has made significant contribution to the methodology and practices of ship acoustic signature measurements: he has developed fifteen measurement guidelines (certified and implemented) incorporated as appendices into the regulatory document. Under his scholarly advice a PhD (Candidate of Technical Sciences) dissertation and 4 graduation projects have been defended. Two projects have been performed under grants of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR). Author of about 50 scientific contributions and one invention patent. Over the last 5 years he has published 8 papers in the publications short listed by the Russian State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles (VAK), and presented 4 papers at international conferences. v. A. Kaliyu has been awarded with a jubilee medal «300 Years of the Russian Navy» and Diploma of Merit of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
