The Ship Electric Engineering & Technology Institute (TSNII SET) is a multi-purpose specialist research & production center pursuing advanced research, development and technology projects related to the design and production of ship electric equipment including turn-key projects starting from the inception of new scientific ideas throughout to the actual installation of equipment on site.

It is rated among leaders in the advanced R&D on electric power systems, sources of electric energy (including hydrogen-based solutions), electric propulsion plants, automated control systems for ship equipment as well as electric equipment installation techniques.

TSNII SET was established back in 1965 on the basis of the Central Design Bureau 55 to provide basic competences regarding all types of ship electric equipment as well as to work our specifications of electric equipment to be developed for the Russian shipbuilding. In 2012 it was incorporated in the Krylov State Research Centre.
