The Division was established in 1946, first as a department that evolved in 1951 into the design & research bureau and finally in 1960 into the 1st Division. In 2012 the Division was officially named the Naval Ship System’s Integration Division. The core task of the Division is shaping of the R&T tasks in the field of shipbuilding under the programs of military industrial complex development.
The key tasks of the Civil Ship System’s Integration Division is the management of advanced R&D and design efforts to support the development of future ships and marine structures from formulation of R&D to final practical implementation of their results in specific projects under Federal Task Programs as well as end users of shipbuilding industry production.
The Hydrodynamics Division is the oldest and fundamental research unit of the Krylov Centre which was set up back in 1894 with the commissioning of the first Russian Towing Tank in St. Petersburg, then located in the downtown area known as Novaya Gollandya (New Holland). Nowadays the experimental facilities available for hydrodynamic research studies include 5 test tanks for a range of different tasks, a family of cavitation tunnels and a wind tunnel.

Surely, strength is one of critical parameters defining structural safety. Strength experts have to reconcile conflicting requirements for the specific structure. Thus, a structure demonstrating high strength and reliability is to be of scant weight. Requirements for strength, reliability and service life are to be also correlated with minimum labor rate to build the structure. This list may be finalized with requirements for repairability, restrictions of overall structural dimensions, effect of corrosion and other factors on strength performance.

The Ship Electric Engineering & Technology Institute (TSNII SET) is a multi-purpose specialist research & production center pursuing advanced research, development and technology projects related to the design and production of ship electric equipment including turn-key projects starting from the inception of new scientific ideas throughout to the actual installation of equipment on site.
The Ship & Industrial Acoustics Division is concerned with the acoustic stealth of ships, refinement of physical & mathematical models, management of ship’s vibrational, noise and sonar fields (signatures), development of scientific basis and guidelines for measurement of these fields and identification of their sources.
Today, one of the major thrusts of the Krylov State Research Centre is the development and implementation of stealth technologies intended for minimizing the risk of ships being detected and destroyed by weapons sensing the electromagnetic and hydrophysical signatures.
The Baltsudoproekt Central Design Bureau, established back in 1925, is the oldest Russian design company. In 1999 the Bureau was incorporated in the Krylov State Research Centre as a branch, in 2008 it received the KSRC division status.
It is a leading institute for standardization and unification efforts, certification of products and quality management systems, classification and coding, cataloguing of products, metrological support, specialization and coordination of production in the field of shipbuilding.
